Sweets of Cretan wedding
Honey dip pastries are specialties of Greek celebrations. Sure, you all know crunchy baklava due to its thin dough rolled many times around nut filling.
Crete has its own specialty, usually served during weddings. They are called xerotigana (ξεροτήγανα). Spirals of thin dough quickly fried and sprinkled with sesame seeds, cinnamon or grated walnuts. There is no wedding on the island without those sweets. Enjoy them while on the island of Zeus.
